Video & Animation

A selection of works I’ve played a major role in as producer, co-director, designer, hatchback driver, location scout, and more.

MICA: This is Baltimore

Produced for the Maryland Institute College of Art, this video is used by the team of Admissions Counselors to introduce prospective students to Baltimore City. The video consciously pushes back on negative stereotypes and shows the city’s abundant color and creativity. I helped conceive and produce the video at Post Typography, working on multiple sites around the city with Director Dave Cooper on planned and improvised shoots.

The New School

Animated title slides from the Keynote used nationwide by The New School’s Admissions staff. The designs riff off the institution’s distinctive proprietary typeface and the logo’s double rule in a wide variety of ways to keep students engaged throughout the presentation. I was one of the Art Directors and lead Designer on this project by Post Typography.

Baltimore: A Great College Town

At Post Typography, we conceived and produced three short videos that depict Baltimore as a great city in which to learn and live. Geared towards prospective college students, the videos are designed for both large and small screens, with or without sound. For viewers that listen, a commissioned score by Wye Oak's Andy Stack captures the heartbeat of Baltimore.

The client, Baltimore Collegetown Network, is a consortium of the city's top colleges, including Johns Hopkins University, Loyola, MICA, University of Maryland, and Morgan State University.

Make a Difference in Baltimore

I was heavily involved in the every part of the production on this series. Working closely with the client and independently, we identified and scheduled exemplary students and locations to highlight. I had a blast tagging along with Director and Photographer Dave Cooper for a majority of the shoot days. My daily tasks included helping figure out shots on the fly, acting as the project’s liaison with business owners and managers, finding solutions in a few curveball situations, and powering a paddleboat so Dave could keep his camera steady.

Launch Your Career in Baltimore

We commissioned new illustrations and titles from an artist who had worked with Collegetown on recent materials. Graphics slides help structure the video, and captions ensure that the narratives and the client’s messages are clear.

Maryland Film Fest 2019

The poster for MdFF 2019 showed the different worlds viewers are transported to during the event. In the trailer, audiences get a deeper dive into the sights and sounds of these environments I created. Made at Post Typography, with Animation and Sound Design by Phil Davis.
